Pray the Mass Like Never Before

Fr. Mike Schmitz shares an Impact Session talk from SEEK24 in St. Louis, MO where he discusses the true purpose of the Mass and how it is about more than just what you get out of it. He encourages us to participate in the Great Amen and embrace our priesthood.

Our Mission As Catholics

Curtis Martin, the founder of FOCUS ministries, sxplains the state of the CAtholic Church in the United States and our fundamental mission as Catholics.

Being Ready For Mass

It’s tempting to believe we can love God in whatever way suits us, but that’s not how love works.   The way we express our love for God is through obedience and worship. In the first of two explanations in this video, Fr. Mike explains that going to Mass on Sunday is our weekly chance to prove our love for God.   Fr. Mike’s second lesson in this video addresses the issue of receiving Communion in the state of sin, which follows the logic of the first lesson above.   Communion with God is only possible once we have been reconciled with God and his Church. Both Christ and St. Paul make this clear:  “So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift” (Matthew 5:23-24).  “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 11:27).  Fr. Mike briefly addresses what sin is in this video, and directs his viewers to this previous video of his wherein he addresses the topic more thoroughly: What is Sin?

Why Non-Catholics Can't Recieve Communion

Holy Communion is not just a member privilege the Catholic Church offers to Catholics. It is an expression of the pre-existing reality that the communicant believes the Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Jesus. In this video, Fr. Mike thoroughly and passionately explains why the Church teaches that non-Catholics cannot receive Communion. Fr. Mike's hope is that through his explanation, you will see how the Church's teaching on this matter expresses its desire for all Christians to be one.  If you or someone you know is about to make their First Communion, check out Received: "Your Journey to First Communion": https://ascensionpress.com/collection...
